Light Above

This is part of my house. In the daylight, it adds to the cottage feel of this part of the outside of the house but at night with the security light on, it could be anywhere (Even inside). Prague is booked finally!

More album art bootlegging! This time, 'Thomas Schumacher - Late Night Thing"

Taxi Service

Slightly less exciting DP today. Although these photos are meant to have some sort of meaning as well as good looking. This is my favorite tunnel. No, I didn't take it while driving. It is, unfortunately, the first photo here not taken by myself. Instead, it was taken by my sister who pushed the button. This tunnel is great, you can stay at 70 when coming off the A23, zoom down through it, and take your foot of the gas at the end. Then, as if by magic, when you hit the 50 speed limit, the hill has perfectly balanced your speed!

Frustrated by the inability to find some album art for a selection of my music, I have taken to making my own knock-off versions. Here is one!

Poisoned

Paintballing today, ow! This is from a mixed media collage that I sprayed, burned, drew and tore! Where the title is concerned, it is the word from the newspaper cutting that caught my eye. The article strangely was subjected upon Iran. What significance poison has to Iran, I have no idea!!

"Have u ever considered that although there can be amazing cloud formations during the day, there are also sometimes amazing cloud formations at night. That shot (from yesterday) maybe does not support this, but im gonna try my best to capture the perfect night cloud shot one day!" TB

Go Drive

More skyscapes, more Mini's (Nothing to complain about really). Weather today was abysmal on my first day of Easter, but luckily a trip up to the Jack & Jill at sunset provided this cool photo.

Song of the day: The Qemists Ft Wiley - Dem Na Like Me (Subscape Remix)

A link of interest: Here

I have been coming across examples of modern day photojournalism, such as this link, recently. The work is very inspiring and intriguing. The photos open a portal door, allowing the viewer to almost see the story with their own eyes.

Room Pan

I wanted to try something a little crazy here. The results weren't so pleasing but at least it worked. I spend an enormous amount of time in my room at school either working, designing or sleeping. So, I thought it would be appropriate to follow on a photo of my home workspace with one of school. Crouching in the middle of the room, I took a panorama shot and stitched them together. Here is the result with a random blue background. The crazy banner type effect is due to the extreme perspective. The filesize in the end was 1.36GB and pretty much crashed my mac!! This is a reduced version and I wont be uploading the original for obvious reasons.

Spirited Away

Photo named after the only Anime film I ever liked. The 'flashlight App' with its extra disco light features turns out to be the perfect long exposure tool. Every photo I take like this has a maximum shutter speed of 15seconds. It is surprising how quickly it goes by so everything is very spur-of-the-moment, rushed and improvised. I think that in some ways this is a good thing but I would kill to get my hand on some unlimited shutter speed capabilities one day to really step up the game.

Song of the day: Röyksopp - Happy up here (Breakbot Remix)

What a groove-tastic tune! Severely contrasting against the Stoner-Rock and Sabbath contained within posts like this one not long ago!!!

Pacro Mixel

This pixel-perfect rave scene is from a new App I acquired today. It is called 'Synthpond' and has the purpose of creating tones and sequences in an art-in-mind way. Although it was quite difficult to understand and get the hang of at first, this is now my tied first favorite App! Get it HERE if you're interested.

Happy Up Here

Food shopped today! This was the sky at Tesco!

I wont make a habit of this, but I think the new album from Norwegian duo 'Royksopp' definitively needs a mention. I first heard of Royksopp when my Dad bought their album by chance in Borders in late 2001. As I was very young at the time, my appreciation for their first 'Melody A.M.' album was insufficient. Thankfully in later years I would re-discover the musical perfection that was that album along with their second outing in the form of the 'The Understanding'. I am sure that it was groups like this who gave me my founding in Electronic music thanks to my Dad's music choice and that of my best friend. To then chance hear a new Royksopp track on the radio today really sent a rush of joy to my heart. Coincidentally my sister had heard it in H&M last sunday and informed me that I would have loved it. She was right. In which case the latest production, titled 'Junior', had to not only live up to my sisters recommendation, but also to a nostalgic fondness I have for the group, carefully cultivated over the years. After a full listen, I can safely say that this is another one for the playlist of eternal plays. Like 'The Understanding', 'Junior' is its own album by right, but with that same Royksopp flare that was ever present in the others. Although there are stand-out tracks, for example the title of this post, which get better on each play, the whole album makes for a great listen. For an artist who would certainly appear in my top five favorite if ever quizzed, I am happy once again to have some new Royksopp material for ears to divulge for the next four or so years.

Here is my chosen single from the album=

Fires Of Hell

See it BIG HERE

Some excellent news today as well! I was finally given my iPod Touch 2G. Yes! After an eternal wait, and more trials and tribulations than you can shake a stick at, I finally got it. Thinking back to the daily photo for a second, this is a piece of metal I was forging today in the ceramic-chip-hearth in DT. Once the metal is hot enough it can be forced into the desired shape using hammers and vices. Mann!!

Here is what the two hour DT sessions light night produced. It is comparing the original design to the one that has been manufactured.

The title of this amazing track brings back fond memories from Tony Hawks Pro Skater and more recently of Turkey!!

The Nose Knows

Bit of a DP disaster today. I went erranding in Brighton with my sibling this afternoon and returned to the Mini to find one of Essex's finest parked next door. (No, not a model from FHM, a full blooded rice rocket equipped with airbag suspension, rims, paint job, bodykit and window-tint) I have to admit to having once liked that scene but have now developed a more acquired taste. I had a devil of an idea and decided to take a low angled contrast shot of the two whips parked alongside one another. Great idea, waay. Wait. On uploading the photo, there was a problem with the memory card and the shot was deleted. Typical. So an almost macro of Badge's nose will have to suffice. He slept on my feet for the entire duration of my 2 hour DT session tonight.

Fire & Brimstone

A bit of DT for once. Today I was forging some legs for my project. For some reason I kept having a thought run through my mind: 'deep into the fires of hell'. Hmmm, perhaps some reflection on my current music choice?

Another shot from last year. I had A2 results back from january today so no time for photos. All I can envisage from now until forever is WORK WORK WORK. Great.

Song of the day: Brant Bjork- Oblivion This song is incredible. Stoner-Rock and Swedish/American Heavy-Rock is definitely where its at for me at the moment.

Cold Sky's

I was sitting in the art room today and looked up to be greeted by this skyscape silhouetting the trees beneath. I seem to have a thing for skies as P and B will vouch for. No match for any cars though.

Manor Wall

Although some posts have been delayed by the lack of access to a computer, I will try and have a photo or piece of design for each day. Some may just arrive a bit late. Also in future, I plan to make photography once again the main subject of this blog so if any pieces of design are displayed, they will be alongside a daily photo.

This is a long exposure photo I did this time last year. Although I was studying long exposure photography as part of my art course, it quickly became a personal obsession with me going out at around 10:00 every night to try and create some new and exciting compositions. This was a personal favorite and is constructed of an LED rope being swung like a jump rope whilst a car with its headlights on drove by. It has been done with a 15s shutter speed, an aperture of 2.8 and an ISO of 200.
