Halloween

Some dark photos from a not so dark day. The top photo is from a tea room that served exquisite flapjacks (But not as good as my mums), while the second photo is of Hurtwood house brain injury center. I got a really good vibe off the people I spoke to there and they had a Monkey Puzzle tree in their garden!

Oh yes, Happy Halloween!

Saturday Friday

It was just one of those 'Saturday Fridays' today. As the amount of photos shows it was quite a busy day. Dad returned from the UAE incredibly tired but we still managed to have a family trip to a nice country pub (The Cat in West Hoathely- Very nice!). I also saw my first Porsche Panamera in the flesh. Its not the prettiest car but I like rare new stuff. Also I reconnected with a old pal and went back to a pub (Making it my third pint of cider int he day). I think the first few photos, although trying to show motion, possibly should have been in colour to show the lovely turning autumn leaves that lined those small country lanes.

I have done some of the photos a slightly smaller size to take up less space.

No Entry

A photo through the window of a gallery I have been meaning to visit but haven't been able to yet. I even got the train all the way into town and was ready to go in but it was closed. Typical.

Night Rider

A now updated set of photos from my late hour bike ride last night. The first image is a train crossing a level crossing, the second is the beach near Hove Lagoon Skatepark, the third is the Shoreham Power Station and the last is a fishing trawler getting prepped to go out to sea.

Black Rock 2

I popped back to Blackrock and saw the same thing again! I like it though so all is well.

Black Rock

I paid a visit to the old balckrock walls again today. The weather was very pleasing and when the sun set, it lit up the wall with fantastic golden light.

Club Drink

Its very difficult to hit a club with a load of drunk people when you yourself havn't had a drop. It becomes a game of 'wow look at all these people making fools of themselves'. Oh well!

London

Some things of interest I saw today including a Jack Daniels illustration, the view out of my friend Robs hall of residence at UCL, the Thames, the lines at Clapham, some trains and some terrible graffiti on the inside of an old southern train.

ETT & ZULU

Two photos today. One is a sight from my commute. Its such a shame that the original Zulu & ETT roll-ups have been partially vandalized. (Irony?) Also a picture of the sky from this afternoon. Having ranted on earlier in the week about a forecast of poor weather, its nice to see Michael Fish got it wrong!

This is a really amazing song! Its minimal techno. If you have never heard of that genre before maybe give it a go and see what you think.

Top of the World

Having had some half-hearted posts recently, I thought I would rectify the matter with a tumult of images plotting the happenings of today. First off is a panorama from the top of Pelham tower. The view of Brighton from the 10th story windows is quite a sight. The intentional darkness captured in the photo I think really reflects the weather of late. For a larger more detailed version click here. Then there is the photo of the completely over the top barbed wire fencing around a substation just around the corner from college. I always puzzle at it when walking to Subway for lunch. More images then from the top of Pelham Tower. I thought the arrow shot was quite comical and the next one interesting. The photo of the door is as far as one can get up the tower while still being within the schools rules. However, it looks like it wouldn't be worth chancing a sneak around as there are 'Radio Transmitters' within. Pirate radio perhaps? (Actually just a T-Mobile aerial). Then onto the last two images. Some semi recent paintings of the New England Quarter HOF boards that particularly fascinate me. One artist from London, one from Lyon, both incredibly skilled. So there it is, some pictures from my day!

Neue Haas Grotesk

Im feeling under the weather. This image is from a great film called 'Helvetica' by Gary Hustwit. Its the sort of thing that will captivate an aspiring designer or creative mind but will bore all life out of anyone to the contrary. One of the most interesting things I picked up on from the film was a quote by David Carson, a graphic designer; "There is a very fine line between simple and clean and powerful and simple and clean and boring. I recommend it to everyone however, creative or not!

Top Floor

This is the view up and out of the skylight in my current classroom. It is up an unimaginably high set of winding stairs and is about as tall as two normal rooms. It is unnaturally hot due to the dodgy heaters and doesn't smell too pleasant. Having said all this however, it is quite a good room.

In other news, today it rained. It is forecast to rain all week and up through the weekend. Great, looking forward to it already!

Redesign

The blog now has a graphic header and a slightly different layout. Unfortunately one of two little issues still need to be sorted out such as the width of the main content panel. All in due course!

*Update- Width fixed!

One & Four

I drove to Dorset and back today. It was about a five and a half hour round trip. Nice! This photo set is in order and almost documents my day. That photo of the tree really doesn't do it justice.

The Spirit of Saturday

A random Saturday today. I started off my day by stepping out of my room and heading for the shower only to be confronted by a guy from my sisters year on his way past and into my sisters room. She and a friend had come home late from a party the night before and allowed two guys to come back with her and sleep in our spare room which was needed the next day for when my Grandma comes to stay. Nice move. Needless to say mum was furious and I felt quite awkward at the start of my day. Then I went to Brighton with my Dad to do some chores, as if I don't see enough of that place throughout the week. Partial success and I managed to bag some new jeans. While in town I saw a guy dressed as spider man (?). On the return journey we made a detour to Cuckfield to find a car body repair shop that eluded us. However passing Cuckfield motors I spotted this beast R34 GTR. Mint condition with a splattering of nice NISMO goodies. Then to add to the randomness of the day, an afternoon trip to Focus landed me in a queue behind a rather dodgy looking bloke. When paying for his one item, methylated spirits, he didn't make eye contact with the assistant once and didn't say anything not even thank you when the bag was handed to him. He then spacily walked out the door and just stood outside for ages. Nice old Burgess Hill for you there. Sorry, lots of writing today.

Autumn

It was a pleasing sky tonight and being obsessed with skies as I am, some evidence of it was gathered. Also a tree that I hope to photograph in the morning sunlight. Ive seen it the last few days in an almost vegetative morning state and not had the will power to grab my camera. The leaves on it shine like gold. The last shot is the neighbors dog through the bushes!

Thursday

Today consisted of partial cloud, mark making and steak. Good day!
