Busy Busy

I went down to Brighton today with the family and spent far too much money on clothes and shoes. This was an attempt at a daytime long exposure.

All Day

Photos from work. It may be hard to see in the pic but there was something really wrong with the shape of this egg. It wasn't rounded. Why? Also a token sunset.

Central

I was up in London today at Central Saint Martins Southampton Row building in Holborn today for an open day. What A Cool Place. This is definitely going to be my number one choice. Every window you look out of on the Graphic design BA's floor is a panoramic view of central London. Beefy Macs with cinema displays are everywhere. People ooze cool. As the Johnny-Rotten-esque photography leader put it, 'This is the only place to be'. I'm convinced.

The top image is of the Buddhist guy who gave me a free lunch today. He is out every day serving food for free to like 2-300 people. Something about wanting to get good Karma. I say go for it. The simple rice and vegetable curry dish with a bread roll was delicious.

Solent City

I went to an open day at Southampton Solent University today. It was a long day but also good to see the place where I could possibly be spending the next three years of my life.

Warm Reflection

The sunset was vivid once again. It left warm tones everywhere which is ironic as the temperature never seemed to rise above freezing. The cars are already dirty.

Rushing

I am so busy right now.

Girl With The Green Hair

I am infatuated with this poster. Not only because of its blatant piracy of my favorite artist Mucha but also how it rests comfortably in the psychedelic vs. Belle Epoque genre.

Fire & Wax

I spent a long time giving the cars a good clean today and the sunset was quite fierce.

ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY

I actually cant believe Ive made it this far, one whole year (minus one day) of daily photos. Thanks to all of you who have kept up with this blog. Its only real purpose is a personal one but I really appreciate when other people take an interest. I remember making the decision after I started the blog to decide after one year whether I would keep it going. I think the answer is an obvious one. What will it be like in 5 years or even ten. Ahh! Here is a juke box with a serendipitously placed logo that reads 'nostalgia'.

Dry Point

Im beginning to realise why people say that time in education, whether its school or college, is the best time in your life. Its because you probably dont have a job yet. Seriously I have the utmost respect for anyone who holds down a full time job. This is a dry point print I did at college using a biro and some cereal packet card. It doesn't take much! I am now fully obsessed with printmaking. Printmaking MA at Royal College. Yes please.

Bonus

Life seems to be incredibly busy at the moment. Here is some typography that I saw and had to scan. Just look at it, wow.

Broken Train

This photo is dark for a reason. I was sitting in my normal train, having rushed to catch it, when the driver said on the intercom that there was a fault with the train and that 'you can get off if you want'. He then advised that the train would be shut down and the people would not be able to exit through the doors. The lights go off and I swoop in for a dark dingy photo of an almost completely empty train. This is proof for being late for work!

New Train

This, and I think another similar one, have been lurking around recently. Why? For some reason I quite like the shape and livery.

The Red Signs

Memories of Prague. Memories of hot weather. Memories of good strong golden sunlight.

Macros and Avatars

The first sunny and clear day for a long time! It was a welcome change from the snow like residue that has been lurking in the shadows of late. Here is a pile of clipped reeds, some water droplets on a leaf and the sun reflecting magnificently off the wall at Blackrock. I saw Avatar 3D this evening. If you are reading this, GO AND SEE IT. Wow!

Look No Snow

The title should explain the second picture while the first is pretty self explanatory. Working all day today with a COD6/Movie session after late into the night.

The Face

People are always saying that cars have faces. I think this is true in this picture with those evil looking eyes. The light reflecting off the bonnet of this TTS really caught my eye. It was remarkable that the car was so pristine seeing as it was sitting slap bang in the middle of a nasty muddy carpark. I regret not moving in a little closer and shooting with a higher aperture for a bit of nice depth of field (Blurring the background). Next time.

The Other Side

I wish I could link to a youtube clip of this tune ('What can I do for you - the other side), but sadly its too rare. All I can say is wow.

The Last Snow

Yet more snow. This week has been incredible. Even with all the trouble and hard work the snow causes, I still love it. Especially as it is so easy to see cool and interesting things to photograph. It even makes work more bearable somehow. Also, time off college when the train are canceled and the roads are icy! That icicle was huge. I also like the perspective on the shot of the Golf. it really looks like its lurching forward out of the picture. I fear that unfortunately today was the last snow fall of this 'snap'. Hopefully Im wrong though!

Golf in the Snow

I spied this sweet GTI, with the good rims, perched atop the snow at the station.

Night Walk

For a long time now Ive been wanting to get out for a good night walk. Having a day of work (for once in a long time) and no other immediate tasks that needed doing I assembled my SLR, dog and gloves and set off. As you can see the snow and ice is still here which made for an interesting time trying to walk around the woods in the dark but also made for some cool shots. I think this wood is haunted. The top photo is a long exposure which the whole reason I really went for the walk in the first place. It was fun and I hope to find more time in the near future to get some more shots like this.

Icicles

I love Icicles! There is something very pure and elegant about them. Here are two fine examples, one on our roof and the other on my neighbors rosebush. I have to add that although I tried I think that this photo really doesn't do it justice. The gutter above has leaked all over the rose bush transforming it into a pristine sculpture that looks both fragile and deadly. If you happen to be passing by my house in the near future keep your eyes peeled for it. Icicle is also one of my favorite drum and bass producers. Here is a great new tune he put together with Noisia.

Icicle- Driftwood ft.Noisia

It somehow really fits with all the monochrome ice and snow from late.

Nose Full

The snow is not going away and I like it! Here is a shot of the lane with Badger mucking around.

Still Snowed In

Another mass of photos from another snow day. Today was less play in the snow and more general busyness. Like usual the photos kind of tell the story of the day. Starting of with a brisk (to say the least) walk back from Andys house early in the morning carrying a bag of shopping and a bag of clothes all while taking snaps. The second photo is of two mole hills. One of them was pushed before the last snow spell, while the other was fresh. They were the only two around. I bet that mole is absolutely freezing down there. Then theres Badger helping us shift the snow and ice from the droveway and some icicles from the roof. Then quite a funny image. Don't get me wrong, I love Aston Martins, but it takes some kind of douche bag to try and take his Aston out in the snow only to get it stuck. Idiot. Last of all, my delicious looking lunch. It makes me re-hungry just looking at it. I also had steak and chips for supper. Living the good life!

Yet More Snow

Snow, snow snow! I couldn't get to college today due to the eight or so inches of snow that covered everything! So, as one would expect, I took advantage of the situation as much as possible. Queue sledging, snowball fights and lots and lots of photos. The first image is of the fast road to Ditchling in the dark as I walked, yes walked, to work at Budgens. I rather like the grungyness of the photo. The second photo is the snow sliding off our zinc roof. I love how it slowly curls down. It looks almost like a wave. The third photo shows the stanstill that was hassocks this evening. My shift was possibly the most painful yet. This may have been due to the day of sledging and general snow affiliated fun I managed to fit in before. The fourth photo is a good example of this. It is infact me shaking a huge tree as hard as I could, which awesomely dropped several tons of powder all around making a temporary blizzard. Hoods up for that though! The last photo is of my friend Andy going of the sweet jump we built up the hill. Somehow he is flying horizontally through the air, backwards, about to crash as and destroy his knees. Amazing day.

Avant Ski

Its currently snowing. Tomorrow's daily photo will undoubtedly be filled with lots of wonderful images of the snow! Its apparently the coldest snap in 30 years! For now here's a nice sky from this morning and also the sky from this afternoon.
